The tussle between West Bengal government and Tata Motors in Singur | Explained
The story so far: In what could serve as an epilogue to a long-drawn tussle between Tata Motors and the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC), an arbitration panel on Monday directed the latter to compensate the automobile manufacturer for “the loss of capital investments” for the suspended Nano manufacturing facility at Singur. Tata Motors was forced to exit the town in southern Bengal following protests by Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee alleging “forcible acquisition of land” and forced displacements. 
City gas firms brace for hit to volumes from EV push
The Delhi government’s plan to make it mandatory for cab aggregators to have all-electric fleet in five years, and the surge in electric vehicles registration in Mumbai could pose daunting challenges to the dominant city-gas distribution companies in the two metros – IGL and Mahanagar Gas, respectively. Record sales in sight for 2023, Mercedes-Benz India bullish on 2024 outlook
Set for another record sales this year, Mercedes-Benz India is confident of carrying forward the momentum to 2024 despite supply concerns, company Managing Director and CEO Santosh Iyer said on Thursday. The company on Thursday launched two fresh products -- new SUV GLE priced between Rs 96.4 lakh to Rs 1.15 crore and AMG C 43 with price starting at Rs 98 lakh, completing its planned launch of ten products for 2023.
Demand high, but have supply chain issues towards mild-hybrid batteries: Mercedes-Benz India MD
New Delhi: The country’s largest luxury carmaker, Mercedes-Benz India, is facing supply chain challenges at a time when the demand is quite high because of festive season and the upcoming marriage period. “Growth has been expanding from August to November (because of festive season) and now I am told that it will extend further because in the North, it is the wedding season. So, even after Diwali, we don’t expect demand to come down. But we have a challenge right now with supply chain with mild hybrid batteries,” Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mercedes-Benz India, told businessline on the sidelines of new launches here. He said because of these 48-volt mild-hybrid batteries, which most of Mercedes cars have now, the company produced less number of cars here than what it could sell. In the January-September period this year, the company delivered 12,768 units at a growth of 11 per cent over the same period last year.

The GLE SUV has been priced from ₹96.4 lakh, going up to ₹1.15 crore (ex-showroom) and now sports a number of cosmetic updates on the outside and an updated feature list in the cabin. Deliveries for the model will begin from this month. The company also launched C43 AMG 4Matic on the sidelines of the GLE launch, priced at ₹98 lakh (ex-showroom).
Top-end cars 30% of Mercedes sales

New Delhi: In a clear sign that the market for luxury cars is rising, Mercedes-Benz launched 10 cars in the current calendar year at an average price of Rs. 1.66crore. "At the beginning of the year, we said that our key focus will be on the top-end luxury segment," Santosh Iyer, MD & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, told FE. "This segment, which includes models such as Maybach and AMG, has the strongest demand in the Indian market".

Suzuki Motorcycle India sells 84,302 units in domestic market in October 2023
New Delhi: Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL), the two-wheeler subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, sold 1,00,507 units, registering a growth of 14.4% in October 2023 over same period last year. This month witnessed the highest ever domestic sales of 84,302 units for SMIPL, while also exporting 16,205 units globally, the company said.

Electric two-wheeler sales rose 12% in October from a month ago, with market leader Ola Electric cornering almost a third of the overall sales, according to data from the government’s transportation portal Vahan.

 The SC e: concept draws power from a PMS mid-drive motor, while power will come from two Honda Mobile Power Pack e: battery packs. Each battery pack weighs 10 kg and will be placed under the seat. This leaves little room for practical under-seat storage space but will allow the flexibility to swap batteries and maximise productivity with the e-scooter. Honda does not confirm a range on the concept but it could offer a real-world range of about 100 km on a single charge. The top speed is likely to be around 70 kmph.
